BIOGRAPHY OF DWAYNE JOHNSON

“If Something Stands Between You And Your Success, Move It.

Never Be Denied” Dwayne Johnson

Let's discuss Dwayne Johnson's journey to becoming the first third-generation wrestler in the WWE, continuing a family legacy that began with his grandpa, "High Chief" Peter Maivia, an American Samoan, in the 1960s. His Dad; Rocky Johnson, a.k.a. "Soul Man," took advice from Peter Maivia before marrying his daughter.

Dwayne Johnson first rose to fame as "The Rock," a well-known wrestler. He later rose to fame as a box office sensation, making appearances in movies including "The Scorpion King," "Hercules," and "The Fast and the Furious" series.

He later rose to fame as a box office sensation, making appearances in movies including "The Scorpion King," "Hercules," and "The Fast and the Furious" series. His college football career was cut short by an injury, so he joined the WWE. He engaged in a memorable rivalry with wrestler Steve Austin as "The Rock" and repeatedly won the WWE Heavyweight championship. Johnson later used his fame from wrestling to launch a successful film career, making appearances in movies including The Mummy Returns in 2001 and Tooth Fairy in 2010. The HBO series Ballers, the Fast and the Furious, and Jumanji franchises, as well as the voice of the demigod Maui in Moana, are some of the later productions.

Early Life and Career

Dwayne Johnson was born in Hayward, California, on May 2, 1972. The young Johnson grew up watching his father compete in the ring. He is the grandson of professional wrestler Rocky Johnson and son of wrestler Peter "High Chief" Fanene Maivia.

The young Johnson grew up watching his father compete in the ring. He is the grandson of professional wrestler Rocky Johnson and son of wrestler Peter "High Chief" Fanene Maivia. Johnson played collegiate football at the University of Miami, showing promise with his size and agility until being hindered by injury. Johnson had no aspirations to follow in his father's footsteps.

Dwayne Johnson Turning into "The Rock"

When the elder Johnson made his WWE debut in 1996, his father would occasionally be seen "leaping into the ring and defending his son when he looked to be in trouble," according to The New York Times. After his father retired in 1991, he began teaching his son.

Dwayne Johnson dedicated his Hollywood Critics Association’s Trailblazer Award in 2021 to his father Fanene Maivia, saying;

“As complicated as our relationship was... he was a real trailblazer because what trailblazers do is they change people's behavior. And that's what he did. And he did everything he could to send people home happy."

Then the WWE signed him as Flex Kavana after he won a few more matches, including one as a tag team with Bart Sawyer. He joined The Nation of Domination a year later and eventually raised to become their leader, going by The Rock.

Later, he joined The Corporation, a group of top wrestlers, and started a famous rivalry with Steve Austin. The Rock, also referred to as "The People's Champ," went on to amass a total of 17 WWE championships over his illustrious career.

Dwayne Johnson Movies and TV Career

'Scorpion King'

The Rock established a lucrative acting career outside of the wrestling arena by ditching the stage name and going by Dwayne Johnson. He originally gained widespread recognition in 2001's The Mummy Returns as the demonic villain Scorpion King. The Scorpion King the next year saw Johnson return this part. He tried his hand at comedy by making appearances in the films The Game Plan (2007) and Be Cool (2005), starring John Travolta and Uma Thurman.

'Driver,' 'Fast & Furious' Franchise

Dwayne Johnson made roles in movies including Driver (2010) and Fast & Furious 6 as his acting career continued to flourish (2013). He played the title character in Hercules in 2014. Johnson occasionally made a comeback to professional wrestling, including a Wrestle Mania 30 appearance in 2014 alongside Hulk Hogan and Stone Cold Steve Austin.

HBO's 'Ballers'

Dwayne Johnson ruled the big screen in 2015 with two blockbuster action movies. He starred in San Andreas and was in Furious Seven. In the same year, Johnson made his television series debut in Ballers, playing Spencer Strasmore, a former professional football player who is now a financial advisor.

'Central Intelligence,' 'Moana,' 'Baywatch,' 'Jumanji'

Following their collaboration on the action comedy Central Intelligence with Kevin Hart, Johnson voiced the demigod Maui in the Disney animated smash Moana in 2016. He took on leading roles in Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, The Fate of the Furious, a big-screen adaptation of the 1990s lifeguard series Baywatch, and The Fate of the Furious.

'Skyscraper,' 'Rampage,' 'Hobbs & Shaw'

The good vibes continued into 2018, with Jumanji racking up ticket sales en route to becoming the actor's highest-grossing film to date. Dwayne Johnson also managed to stand out during the blitz of advertising accompanying the Super Bowl in February, debuting a trailer for the movie Skyscraper, in which he partakes in death-defying stunts with a prosthetic leg.

That same day, Johnson announced he would be hosting a 10-episode unscripted competition show, The Titan Games, to "create a platform that gave everyday people the opportunity to change their lives and do something extraordinary."

Next up for the action star was Rampage, based on the popular 1980s arcade game, which hit theaters a few months before the July release of Skyscraper.

Dwayne Johnson returned to his wrestling roots by appearing as himself in Fighting with My Family (2019), based on the true story of female wrestling champion Saraya "Paige" Bevis. Later that year, he was back in action mode with the Fast & Furious spinoff Hobbs & Shaw, alongside Jason Statham.

'Young Rock'

In 2021, Young Rock, a television series about the life of Dwayne Johson, premiered. The show stars Johnson and other actors playing younger versions of the actor.

XFL Co-Owner

In August 2020, Johnson announced that he teamed up with his wife and a sports management company to buy the XFL, which went bankrupt earlier in the year, for $15 million. "The acquisition of the XFL with my talented partners, Dany Garcia and Gerry Cardinale, is an investment for me that's rooted deeply in two things—my passion for the game and my desire to always take care of the fans," Johnson said in a statement. "With pride and gratitude for all that I've built with my own two hands, I plan to apply these callouses to the XFL, and look forward to creating something special for the players, fans, and everyone involved for the love of football."

Marital life of Dwayne Johnson

Dwayne Johnson and his long-term girlfriend, singer/music producer Lauren Hashian, got married in August 2019. The two are parents to daughters Jasmine Lia (b. December 2015) and Tiana Gia (b. April 2018).

Johnson also has a daughter, Simone Alexandra, from his first marriage. He and his high school sweetheart, Dany Garcia, wed in 1997 and split up a decade later, though she continues to serve as his manager.

Injuries

When life puts you in tough situations; don’t say “why me”?

Just Say “Try me”. Dwayne Johnson

After years of hard careers in football and professional wrestling, one could be tempted to believe that Dwayne Johnson, known in the WWE as The Rock, is unbreakable when seeing him stunt and smolder on the big screen. Johnson has, however, dealt with several injuries throughout the years that may have jeopardized his current endeavors. The former athlete-turned-actor recently discussed some severe injuries he's sustained and how he overcame them to achieve "greatness" as he gets ready to make his DC Universe debut as the lead character in Black Adam.

While training for Black Adam, which also involved some difficult non-physical activities like spending 10 hours inside "The Egg," Dwayne Johnson pushed himself. He discussed a number of painful-sounding procedures and injuries in an interview with Men's Journal, as well as some issues he still faces:

I’m still overcoming mental adversity, to be honest. That never ends. I’ve sustained a number of injuries over the years that have been difficult to overcome, but I’m lucky that I’ve never been injured in the gym. I was brought up to train hard and train smart. But that didn’t protect me when I was out on the field competing or in the wrestling ring. I’ve had five knee surgeries, including a torn Achilles. I had to be sewn back together. The top of my quad was torn from my pelvis. I had a whole bunch of shit happen. The other major adversity has just been fatigue, which can get us all. I know it gets me, and sometimes the last thing you want to do is go to the gym. But when you’re able to push yourself and you fight past that fatigue — that’s when you can find greatness.

The star appears to be a shining example of brilliance. It's even more surprising that he's maintained such a physically demanding career for so long knowing the problems he's dealt with, including multiple knee operations, a ruptured Achilles, a torn quad, and more. He actually has been wise about what his body needs and can endure throughout the years, as seen by the fact that he is continuously stepping up his training.

Controversies

The Rock, Dwayne Johnson Refuses to support Joe Rogan after Learning of the 'N-Word' controversy

The Rock" Dwayne Johnson appears to have changed his mind about supporting contentious podcaster Joe Rogan.

After initially supporting Rogan's position on the protest removal of songs by Neil Young and other musicians from Spotify, where Rogan's podcast is licensed, the Fast and Furious star has responded to fan comments on the "N-word" dispute. The musicians rejected the streamer's request to protest Rogan's podcast guests and some of the topics discussed there.

When singer India Arie shared a collage of videos showing Rogan uttering the "N-word," his already-hot seat got even hotter. Arie apparently shared the videos with her followers to explain to them why she was taking her music off Spotify.

Rogan has stated in the past that his only interests are "speaking the truth" and "engaging in talks."

Johnson made the following remark on Rogan's explanatory video at the time: "Great stuff here, brother. Flawlessly articulated additionally, he expressed excitement for one day "breaking out the tequila with you" on Rogan's program.

Johnson is now questioning his earlier statements.

“I was not aware of his N-word use before my comments, but now I’ve become educated to his complete narrative. Learning moment for me.”

Conclusion

“BLOOD, SWEAT, and RESPECT”

First two you give

Last one you earn. Dwayne Johnson

Dwayne Douglas Johnson, also known as The Rock, was born in Hayward, California, on May 2, 1972. He is the child of professional wrestlers Rocky Johnson and Ata Johnson. His mother is Samoan, while his father is black (of Black Nova Scotian origin) and from Amherst, Nova Scotia, Canada (her own father was Peter Fanene Maivia, also a professional wrestler). Dwayne spent a lot of his childhood traveling with his parents and seeing his father compete in the ring. Dwayne started playing football in high school, and the University of Miami quickly offered him a full athletic scholarship after noticing his prodigious talent. Dwayne's back injury in 1995 prevented him from playing in the NFL. The Canadian League then offered him a three-year contract, but he quit after one year to pursue a career in wrestling.

He made his professional wrestling debut in the USWA as Flex Kavanah, when he and Brett Sawyer won the tag team title. Dwayne became Rocky Maivia when he joined the WWE in 1996. There, he joined a group called "The Nation of Domination" and changed his character to a heel. Rocky soon assumed control of the "Nation" and started adopting The Rock's persona. After the "Nation" broke up, The Rock joined the "Corporation," another prestigious organization of wrestlers, and they launched a famous rivalry with Steve Austin. The Rock was soon fired from the "Corporation." He made a U-turn and earned the moniker "The People's Champion." The Rock took a break from WWE in 2000 to film his part in The Mummy Returns (2001). He resurfaced in 2001 during the WCW/ECW invasion, and during The Scorpion King (2002), a precursor to The Mummy Returns, he joined a group of WWE wrestlers (2001).
