He won the Ultimate Pro Wrestling heavyweight championship the same year he made his debut, attracting the attention of the WWE. He won the United States Championship two years later. Since then, the wrestler has broadened his brand by releasing a hip-hop album and appearing on TV and film.

John Cena is a man who has received numerous awards. He has also received numerous distinctions, including 'Superman,' 'Hero,' and Champion, and he never fails to impress a larger audience. Aside from that, there are several prizes and nominations on the list.

Early Life

On April 23, 1977, in West Newbury, Massachusetts, John Felix Anthony Cena Jr. was born. His mother, Carol, is of English and French-Canadian ancestry and the daughter of baseball legend Tony Lupien. His father, John Cena, Sr., is of Italian descent. He is one of four brothers—Dan, Matt, Steve, and Sean—and the second child of his parents.

He went to Central Catholic High School in Lawrence, Massachusetts, when he was younger. Later, he was transferred to Cushing Academy, a prestigious boarding school for prep students. He attended Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts, after finishing high school.

He earned NCAA Division III All-American status as a center on the collegiate football team and was the captain and MVP of his high school football squad. Later, he quit the game because he felt that he was far too young for it. In his merchandise, he continues to utilize the jersey number 54.

John Cena’s Wrestling Career

Following graduation from Springfield College with degrees in exercise physiology and human anatomy, John Cena set out for California in 1998 to pursue a career in bodybuilding. His 1991 Lincoln Continental served as his home during the evenings when he first began working as a limo driver because he was unable to afford an apartment. The exact 240-pound star, who stands at 6-foot-1, is a hugely popular superstar in the WWE.

The Ultimate Pro Wrestling is where The Dr. of Thuganomics began his wrestling training and developed the persona The Prototype.

On June 27, 2002, John Cena made his debut for WWE in a match against Kurt Angle, which he lost.

John Cena's reputation as a celebrity started to grow in 2004. Big Show lost to Cena in the US Championship. Cena lost the championship not too long after, but he quickly won it back. Then, Cena lost the championship once more to Carlito, a fellow WWE superstar. One of Carlito's bodyguards allegedly stabbed Cena in the kidney during that time. As a result, I was sidelined for a month.

Specifically in 2005 and 2006, Cena was embroiled in controversies. He engaged in conflict with the champion John Bradshaw Lay field, the wrestler Chris Jericho, and his manager Eric Bischoff. At that time, Cena also had conflicts with Edge and Umaga. Nevertheless, some friendships did develop. After defeating Edge, Randy Orton, and Johnny Nitro in a match with Jeff Hardy, Cena is rumored to be friends with Carlito.

Cena had a big year in 2007 because he wrestled Kevin Federline, a rapper and ex-boyfriend of Britney Spears. In the end, John lost the match as a result of Umaga's help for Kevin Federline. Later that evening, Cena retaliated by body slamming Kevin Federline behind the scenes. John Cena had a good start to the year 2007 as well, as he was the first person to triumph over Umaga, the Samoan Bulldozer, that year. The RKO tag team of Randy Orton and Edge were defeated by The Chain Gang Soldier and Shaun Michaels. In the end, Cena and Michaels prevailed in the match.

Due to an injury, Cena had to relinquish the WWE Championship as of October 2007. Cena tore his pectoral muscle during his match with Mr. Kennedy while performing a hip toss. Even though he finished the match and the rest of the scripted event, a check-up the following day revealed that John had completely torn his pectoral major muscle from the bone, necessitating seven to twelve months of rehabilitation. Vince McMahon, CEO of WWE, stripped him of the title and put an end to his reign because he was unable to perform.

As the last wrestler standing in the Royal Rumble match on January 27, 2008, Cena unexpectedly returned to the ring. Both the contest and the customary WrestleMania title shot were won by him. Additionally, Cena competed against JBL in a First Blood match, which he won at both Judgment Day and One Night Stand. JBL, however, won the New York City Parking Lot Brawl and defeated him. After it was revealed that Cena had a herniated disc in his neck, requiring surgery, and would be sidelined indefinitely, Rey Mysterio took Cena's place in the month of August. According to reports, on August 25, Cena underwent additional surgery with Dr. Joseph Maroon to fix the herniated disc in his neck.

John Cena's Box Office

In addition to wrestling, John has established a career in the film industry. John portrayed the title character, John Triton, in the 2006 WWE franchise film The Marine. Due to the weak plot and prejudice against the US Marines, the movie received a mixed bag of reviews. Fans still lined up to see the film because it was John's first time appearing on a large screen.

When he released his debut rap album, "You Can't See Me," which debuted at #15 on the US Billboard 200 chart, the WWE wrestler also added recording artist to his résumé. Together with his cousin Tha Trademark, they recorded the album. The Time Is Now, Cena's entrance theme song, and a number of other singles were featured on the album.

Cena performed several songs with well-known rapper Bumpy Knuckles and one of them with the rap group Estoric. Only John Cena, a professional wrestler, has ever appeared on Top of the Pops on BBC Two.

Cena made a few guest appearances while still actively involved with WWE, including twice on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to promote his album. Additionally, he has made several appearances on well-known programmes like Late Night with Conan O'Brien, Celebrity Playlist on Fuse, The Best Damn Sports Show Period on Fox Sports Net, MADtv, Training Camp on G4, and Punk'd on MTV.

Along with Hulk Hogan, he co-presented the 2005 Teen Choice Awards, served as a guest judge for Nashville Star's third episode in 2006, and made an appearance at the 2007 Nickelodeon UK Kids Choice Awards.

Fashion

The Champ has created a few trademarks in the fashion industry. When he first joined the WWE, Cena frequently wore throwback jerseys and knee-high denim jeans. Cena has been sporting a lot of Chain Gang apparel lately. When his film The Marine was released, John was spotted enhancing his outfit with additional military-inspired clothing to promote his film.

Workout

John Cena bulky build and impressive athleticism belie his tagline, "you can't see me." His insanely attractive physique is the result of a combination of rigorous workout routines he performs five days a week. Interestingly, the 251-pound (114-kilogram) WWE heavyweight was only 120 pounds (54 kilograms) before he started lifting weights, dispelling the long-held belief that his hereditary advantage is responsible for his well-built physique.

Cena, however, owes his imposing figure to his undying love of bodybuilding, his unyielding work ethic, and many hours spent in the gym. His workouts are intense and bulky (aimed at promoting size more than strength). The workouts typically consist of 3-4 sets of high repetitions with light to medium weights (15-20). His workouts consist mainly of compound movements, although he also does some isolated work to target certain muscle groups. This plan guarantees those who stick to it a lean, chiseled body. Increased athleticism is also beneficial for competing in contact and combat sports.

Cena's workout routine includes:

  1. 5-day split schedule.
  2. Reps range from 10 to 30 per set.
  3. Every set should be completed to near-failure.
  4. Every muscle group should be trained once a week.
  5. At least once a month, test your one-rep max on major exercises like squats, bench press, and deadlifts.

Nutrition

In the gym, John Cena has always been a hard worker. He leaves nothing on the table, whether he's bulking up, getting ripped, or on a maintenance phase. However, he needs a lot of energy to sustain that level of activity.

Cena consumes seven meals a day, spaced a couple of hours apart, to provide his body with the energy it requires. He consumes 3,600 calories per day on average, with the following macronutrient breakdown:

  • 290 grammes protein
  • Carbohydrates: 450 g
  • 65 grammes of fat

Here is a breakdown of John Cena's usual day's eating:

  • Meal 1: Consists of oats with applesauce and raisins, 2 whole eggs, and 6 egg whites.
  • Meal 2: A protein bar.
  • Meal 3: Consists of brown rice with veggies and two chicken breasts.
  • Meal 4: Tuna on whole wheat pita bread.
  • Meal 5: Consists of a banana and a whey protein smoothie.
  • Meal 6: Pasta or brown rice, veggies, chicken or fish salad
  • Meal 7: Consists of low-fat cottage cheese and a casein protein drink.

Marital Life

In July 2009, John Cena married Elizabeth Huberdeau, the woman he had been seeing. In May 2012, Cena filed for divorce, which Huberdeau said surprised her. Their messy breakup was all over the news, but they finally came to an agreement in July of that year.

In 2012, Cena began dating fellow WWE superstar Nikki Bella. After they beat The Miz and Maryse in a tag team match at Wrestlemania 33 on April 2, 2017, he asked Bella to marry him.

John Cena and Bella broke up in April 2018, but they got back together for a short time before it was said that they had again gone their separate ways.

The wrestler-turned-actor started dating engineer Shay Shariatzadeh the following year. In October 2020, they got married.

John Cena Controversies

Real Life controversy:

In the past John Cena, an American actor and professional wrestler, issued an apology on Chinese social media after labelling Taiwan a country, which caused a geopolitical controversy.

John Cena created controversy earlier this month when he claimed that Taiwan was the first place to watch Fast & Furious 9 in an interview with Taiwanese broadcaster TVBS while promoting the ninth edition of the Fast & Furious franchise.

Beijing has threatened to take the independent island with force if necessary and claims it as part of its sovereignty. The majority of nations in the world do not recognize Taiwan as a country, despite the fact that it has its own government, democratic elections, and army.

John Cena, 44, released a video message on the Chinese social media site Weibo on Tuesday in which he claimed that he had conducted numerous interviews for Fast & Furious 9 and that he had "made a mistake" in one of them.

It's very vital, Cena added, "I must say right now." "China and Chinese people have my love and respect. I sincerely apologies for my error.

He did not specifically address Taiwan, nor did he explain what he was apologizing for.

Cena has more than 600,000 followers on Weibo, making him a prominent figure there. Media reports claim that he has been studying Mandarin for several years.

Cena's apology was criticized by some Weibo users who claimed it was hollow or lacking in conviction. One said: "Western political correctness is to blame. He wants the Chinese to forgive him, but he also doesn't want to anger the West and stupid Taiwan."

Some, however, were more understanding. One person remarked, "Some of the comments here are definitely too aggressive." "I believe we ought to have a relaxed conversation about it while sitting down. Foreigners may not be familiar with Chinese politics, just as we may not be familiar with their politics."

John Cena’s Top 10 WWE Career Controversies:

1: John Cena vs. Kurt Angle, SmackDown 2002

Cena staring into Kurt's Eyes

During the SmackDown broadcast on June 27, 2002, Olympic champion Kurt Angle stood in the center of the ring and issued an open challenge to anyone who dared to enter the ring with him.

John Cena, a former Ohio Valley Wrestling star who signed a contract with the WWE in 2001, heeded Vince McMahon's guidance and displayed vicious hostility toward the company's seasoned veterans.

Cena, who had been somewhat unknown until recently, completely burst on Angle. He avoided getting defeated by the Angle Slam and the Angle Lock by coming up with counters for both.

Cena's debut match on WWE television showed what the company has in store for the future.

Our hero, the Champ, had finally come.

2: Undertaker vs. Cena, SmackDown, 2004

An enraged Undertaker had struck John Cena in June 2004. Cena, a man of dignity and integrity, was unable to disregard the situation.

A week later, Cena entered the SmackDown ring and challenged The Undertaker to a fight with more arrogance than swagger.

The Deadman agreed, and the fight started.

After just two years in the WWE, Cena put The Undertaker through his paces. If the referee hadn't been struck, Cena would have won the bout with an Undertaker vs. Cena, SmackDown, 2004

The Undertaker had already returned by the time he was revived, and he used a chain and a tombstone to finish off the future WWE champion.

Although Cena may have been conceited in taking on the Undertaker, he proved to the WWE Universe that he has no fear of anyone, living or dead. Attitude Adjustment on the phenomenon.

3: Chris Jericho vs. Cena, SummerSlam 2005

John Cena, the WWE champion, was chosen to join Monday Night Raw in 2005. He managed to enrage Raw General Manager Eric Bischoff, who didn't believe the youthful champion was deserving of such a prestigious title.

To assist him defeat Cena at SummerSlam, Bischoff enlisted the aid of Chris Jericho, a former undisputed champion.

Jericho took the lead in a terrific match. He effortlessly avoided the Attitude Adjustment, crushed Cena with powerful DDT, and repeatedly locked on the Walls of Jericho.

After failing to finish off Cena, Jericho started to argue with the referee, which gave Cena the opportunity to hit a second Attitude Adjustment and win.

Cena defeated Jericho with a clear pin fall to establish his rightful claim to the championship.

4: John Cena vs. Jeremy Borash, 2005, A Day of Reckoning

John Cena was defending the WWE Championship, the first world title he had ever won, for the first time.

He faced up against JBL, who he had previously beaten at WrestleMania 21. This bout, however, had new regulations: it was a "I Quit" match.

An "I Quit" match is a particularly cruel form of competition since it doesn't end until one fighter utters just three little words. Cena and JBL's meeting would be no different.

JBL made an effort to overpower Cena and beat him senseless, but Cena proved his mettle and withstood the former champion's blows.

Blood was spilled, tables were broken, and chair shots were vicious before Cena finally managed to get JBL to walk out.

Cena proved he was more than just a pretender to the title.

5:  John Cena vs. JBL, Match 21, WrestleMania 2005

JBL getting smashed by Cena

The 2005 Royal Rumble was John Cena's closest call to a championship match at WrestleMania. It seemed hopeless for him to ever have a chance when he failed to win the Rumble.

Then, Cena won a No. 1 contenders tournament on SmackDown, earning him a match against WWE champion JBL.

JBL made every effort to frighten Cena. Since JBL tampered with the results, Orlando Jordan was able to win the United States Championship.

But unfortunately, that wasn't enough. After a long reign by JBL, Cena finally won the WWE Championship at WrestleMania.

6: Cena vs. Sabu, WWE vs. ECW Head-to-Head, 2006

John Cena battled hardcore icon Sabu at WWE vs. ECW Head-to-Head four days before defending his title against Rob Van Dam at ECW One Night Stand.

Sabu appeared on WWE television as ECW was ready to relaunch on Syfy. On Raw, he put out Cena with a leg drop while signing the contract for their match with Rob Van Dam.

Cena and Sabu met at the special event in what can only be characterized as a collision of styles. Cena used his superior strength to keep Sabu grounded while Sabu took his moves to the air.

Cena was able to hit the Attitude Adjustment and lock in the STF, but before Sabu could tap, the locker rooms emptied, resulting in a massive WWE vs. ECW melee.

Many people forget about this match, but Cena demonstrated that as the WWE's face, he is more than willing to protect it against all obstacles.

7:  Cena vs. Triple H, WrestleMania 22, 2006

When John Cena met Triple H at WrestleMania 22, he was in the midst of his second WWE Championship reign.

One of the biggest and most crucial matches in Cena's still-young career was facing the Cerebral Assassin on the grandest stage of them all.

The match was clearly level between the two, with the men effortlessly trading moves and counters.

Cena turned a Pedigree attempt by Triple H into the STF. The Game fled, only to have it happen again later in the game. The Game's luck ran out after the second STF, and he tapped out.

Cena has defeated another icon on his path to cementing his own legacy.

8: Cena vs. Edge, Unforgiven (2006)

Edge won the WWE Championship in July 2006 after defeating John Cena and Rob Van Dam in a Triple Threat match on Raw.

Edge attacked and smacked Cena's father just before this Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match in Edge's hometown of Toronto. Cena entered the match angry.

Cena fighting in a rage was a first for the WWE Universe. Cena was out of his element in a match that Edge made legendary.

Cena battled toe-to-toe with Edge, even after he was busted open, and he used every weapon at his disposal. He then used an Attitude Adjustment from the top of the ladder to send Edge through two tables.

He was bloodied and bruised, but Cena had fought for his father's dignity and reclaimed the belt he had lost to Rob Van Dam earlier in the year.

9: Cena vs. Rob Van Dam, ECW One Night Stand, 2006.

When Rob Van Dam informed WWE champion John Cena that he was going to cash in his Money in the Bank contract at ECW One Night Stand, it forced Cena to defend the belt in enemy territory.

Cena approached the ring to a chorus of boos louder than any he has heard previously. This was to be expected, given that Van Dam was the ECW poster kid.

The match was hotly contested, and Van Dam did not have an easy road to the title.

With placards in the crowd threatening to riot if Cena won, Edge stormed the ring and speared Cena. Van Dam followed with a frog splash, and Paul Heyman counted the pin.

The clamor of the fans following the three count was thunderous.

Cena lost the match, but he demonstrated that he could handle any wrestling technique thrown his way.

10: Cena vs. Umaga, Royal Rumble 2007

Umaga was dubbed The Samoan Bulldozer for good reason: he simply ploughed through his opponents.

When Cena put the championship on the line against the undefeated 350-pound behemoth in a Last Man Standing match at the 2007 Royal Rumble, he was manhandled in a way that fans had never seen before.

He was busted open early in the fight and dominated by Umaga in the early going. The fight quickly turned nasty. Umaga smashed through the announcers' table while using the steel steps, and the top rope became unhooked. Umaga attempted to use the exposed metal as a weapon.

Cena slapped on the STF twice, each time altering it by tying the falling ring rope around Umaga's neck. Cena won the fight when Umaga failed to complete the 10-count comeback. He is on his way to becoming an unbeatable superhero.

Injuries

The road back to the WWE ring that John Cena has taken after injuries has felt like something out of science fiction.

Cena has been sidelined for short periods of time due to torn muscles, bone chips, and a broken neck. Even if WWE is always exaggerating the time it takes for things to happen, the rapid transition from Cena's use of a surgical knife to his use of headlocks still seems impossible to believe.

He'll be back in action three months earlier than many believed possible after having surgery to repair a torn triceps and elbow.

This is another chapter in Cena's real-life Wolverine imitation, and the story of his encounter with Alberto Del Rio will revolve upon his toughness, resilience, and almost superhuman healing powers.

A rip in the chest muscle

Mr. Kennedy had an axe to grind with the company's top dog and decided to utilize that Monday night to attack Cena. Cena attempted a hip toss early on, but he tore his pec and his chest hung limp as a result.

Cena persisted during an assault from Randy Orton, during which Orton executed an RKO atop the unyielding table, but Cena kept fighting.

Cena was forced to give up the WWE Championship after suffering an injury and would reportedly miss six months to a year of activity. A "total tear of his pectoralus major muscle" was listed as the cause of his injury.

A post-operative rehabilitation programme for this injury type is outlined in the North American Journal of Sports Physical Therapy. Heavy lifting should be avoided for at least six months after surgery, according to the National Association of Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapists.

Less than four months after surgery, Cena was tossing ripped men over the top rope.

He entered the 2008 Royal Rumble as the final competitor and defeated Chavo Guerrero, Carlito, Mark Henry, and Triple H to claim victory. Timing-wise, his comeback was one of the biggest in recent WWE history.

Few would have guessed that the injury that threatened his WrestleMania status would turn out to be more of a speed bump than an obstacle.

WWE took advantage of the fact that most Rumble contestants are kept secret in order to make the event more memorable. The element of surprise would have been lost at any other event with a hidden foe.

He reentered the title picture like he's doing now, with a straight shot at Hell in a Cell. Shortly after his return, he defeated Orton at No Way Out 2008 and became WWE champion.

Disc Herniation in the Neck

Cena's neck injury occurred in August of 2008, necessitating surgery. Cena's injury was the result of a collision with Batista at SummerSlam 2008, and he missed Unforgiven's Championship Scramble battle for the World Heavyweight Championship as a result.

While rest is often all that's needed to repair a herniated disc, Cena went ahead and had fusion surgery with Dr. Joseph Maroon.

With terms like "fusion," "neck," and "surgical," one may expect a lengthy recuperation period. It's not like Cena was planning to start working at Subway again. It's hard to think that only three months later he was back in the ring.

As for Cena, he came back for Survivor Series 2008 to defend his title against Chris Jericho.

The similarities between 2008 and now may cause concern for Del Rio fans or die-hard anti-Cena fans. In much the same way that he is getting ready to do today, Cena rushed back into the world title scene following surgery and dove right in.

The way WWE portrays the return is very similar.

Just like with Del Rio vs. Cena at Hell in a Cell, videos highlighting his toughness and charting his rehabilitation were utilized to generate buzz for this match. Images in these clips, as well as Cena's rapid recovery off the surgery table, taught us that Cena is very motivated.

Mutant superpowers are merely the outcome of mutant aggression and regular physical therapy.

Broken Bones in the Elbow

Cena required another surgery in August of 2012. This time it was to have bone chips removed from his elbow, a process that WWE.com says will set him back six to eight weeks.

Cena's rehabbed elbow is taped up like an athletic sleeve.

Athletes' tape covers Cena's bandaged elbow after elbow surgery.

Cena only followed the schedule once more.

At Survivor Series that same year, he faced off against CM Punk and Ryback. WWE benched him from facing CM Punk at Hell in a Cell, replacing him with Ryback. It's reasonable to speculate that Cena would have returned to the ring much sooner if his operation had occurred a few weeks earlier, say, before WrestleMania.

WWE put Ryback through his paces in the main event to gauge his viability, but Cena was never out of the spotlight.

He taped his injured knee with black athletic tape in hopes of speeding up his recuperation, and he continued to appear on Raw and provide on-mic performances until Ryback was ready to face CM Punk at Hell in a Cell 2012. He still isn't making room for anyone a year later.

Into the Future

Cena might become the third man to ever hold the World Heavyweight Championship at this year's Hell in a Cell PPV. A shrewd bettor would put money on him to win.

Del Rio has held the title since June, and his opponent has a history of title defenses. Considering Cena's previous surgery, WWE is also portraying this as a potentially life-threatening issue. WWE is being WWE by portraying Cena as the underdog and capitalizing on the drama of him defeating insurmountable odds.

The opportunity for Damien Sandow to cash in his Money in the Bank contract and become champion has finally arrived.

It's almost certain that Del Rio will work over Cena's arm, leaving him defenseless after the match. For Sandow to truly shine as a top heel, he has to feud with Cena. But Cena will reclaim the title from him at some moment.

The WWE's penchant for repeatedly placing Cena atop the company's main roster is evidenced by his 13 championship reigns in the company's main division.

Additionally, a rematch with Daniel Bryan is certain. Cena vs. Bryan II can't be ignored due to the ready-made story of Cena seeking revenge against the guy who defeated him for the WWE Championship and Bryan's popularity.

It's almost time for WrestleMania now that Sandow and Bryan have been eliminated.

That means WWE is gearing up its biggest talents to compete in matches at the biggest event of the year. The huge names Cena has faced are dwindling, and so are Undertaker's. Even if it might alienate some WWE fans, a Cena vs. Undertaker match at WrestleMania would be the kind of marquee match that defines the event.

It's more likely than any of those predictions that Cena will be hurt again.

Wrestling is a violent profession, and Cena works out too frequently for him to avoid need surgery on his body at some point. When that occurs, you shouldn't put too much stock in the schedule that's given after the fact.

Cena may not always be victorious over stronger opponents like Bryan, but his record when it comes to overcoming the predicted time needed to recuperate is perfect.

John Cena’s Achievements

John Cena has achieved the extraordinary record of capturing 25 professional wrestling championships, matching the feat of WWE great Ric Flair. He held the world title 16 times, including 13 WWE Championships and three WWE World Heavyweight Championships. He won the WWE World Tag Team Championship four times and the WWE United States Championship five times.

Conclusion

Working hard, being devoted, and being revered are the keys to success. John Cena lives to serve others and has the fortitude to face his challenges. For the past decade, John Cena has been one of the most popular WWE Superstars.

Cena has had more memorable matches than any other WWE Superstar because he has been wrestling for ten years and has faced a wide range of opponents and wrestling styles.

He has amassed quite the collection of titles along the road. WWE claims that he is a World Heavyweight Champion, WWE Champion, United States Champion, World Tag Team Champion, and WWE Tag Team Champion. Both the 2008 and 2012 Money in the Bank tournaments were won by him.

John Cena is the archenemy of the supporters. He is a true hero. He never backs down from what he believes in and constantly addresses his conflicts. John Cena is definitely going to be a big inspiration to all, whether in wrestling, fashion, music or even movies as his participation in the industry is already more than regular celebrity. With all he has achieved, fans can definitely expect to see more of this WWE superstar in the coming future.

"Trust me, I know where my heart is and my heart's right here. I'm going to keep doing everything because I love to do it, but I will never sacrifice my time between the ropes."-John Cena

Apart from WWE Cena has been very famous among bodybuilding circles for his physique. Cena has always been asked about the secret behind his physique by different reporters and youtubers. Though John has always denied taking or being involved in anabolic steroids but it cannot be true at all. As all of the professional bodybuilders and trainers around the world would second that to maintain such a huge muscle mass with high level of definition year around is impossible without anabolics. We are not denying his hardwork but as per my experience, no matter how hard you work in the gym human body has its limitations and to overcome those limitations and to perform like Cena, one does need some support.

Steroids or no, Cena we love you for making our childhood awesome.
